Validation of studies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You must submit an application for validation of prior learning to the Schooling Department\u00a0 in July prior to the start of the academic year. This application will be examined by a pedagogical committee, which may ask you to take a test of your knowledge in the discipline you are applying for, and to check your understanding of the French language (a good level is required).<\/p>\n<p>Admission is decided by the President of the University of French Polynesia, on the recommendation of the pedagogical committee. If you are a non-French-speaking applicant, you must provide as much information as possible about your level of French.<\/p>\n<p>If your application to enroll in the Master&#8217;s program is rejected, you will not be admitted to the Bachelor&#8217;s program unless you have completed a Demande d&#8217;Admission Pr\u00e9alable (DAP) application between November 15th and January 31st prior to the start of the academic year. For example: comparing the English and American systems with the French one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parallel: American\/French educational curricula<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>American colleges and universities differ a lot from French institutions of higher learning. The parallel between the American and French systems is therefore much more difficult to establish than for the British system. Only a very general idea of equivalences can be given here. In fact, there is no official equivalence between French and American diplomas. The French university alone is in a position to decide the level to which the American student will be admitted. Its own admission requirements always come into play.<\/p>\n<p><strong>High school diploma<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This level of study does not necessarily allow an American student to enter higher education in France. It is not the equivalent of the baccalaur\u00e9at. Validation of the diploma therefore depends on the American establishment where it was prepared, as well as the number of hours of study and the type of teaching.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bachelor&#8217;s degree<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This American diploma is equivalent either to a French bac + 2 diploma (DEUG, DEUST, BTS, DUT), or to a Bachelor\u2019s degree\u00a0 (LMD system) and even to a Master (M1 level &#8211; LMD system). Applications are therefore handled on a case-by-case basis by the higher education establishment concerned.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The decision to grant equivalence is not based solely on the qualifications obtained in the country of origin, but also takes into account the content of the training followed, the number of years of study, and the institution where the studies were carried out.<\/p>\n<p>Without establishing any rules, we can nevertheless draw parallels between the higher education curricula of different countries. For example: comparing the English and American systems with the French one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parallel: American\/French educational curricula<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>American colleges and universities differ a lot from French institutions of higher learning. The parallel between the American and French systems is therefore much more difficult to establish than for the British system. Only a very general idea of equivalences can be given here. In fact, there is no official equivalence between French and American diplomas. The French university alone is in a position to decide the level to which the American student will be admitted. Its own admission requirements always come into play.<\/p>\n<p><strong>High school diploma<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This level of study does not necessarily allow an American student to enter higher education in France. It is not the equivalent of the baccalaur\u00e9at. Validation of the diploma therefore depends on the American establishment where it was prepared, as well as the number of hours of study and the type of teaching.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bachelor&#8217;s degree<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This American diploma is equivalent either to a French bac + 2 diploma (DEUG, DEUST, BTS, DUT), or to a Bachelor\u2019s degree\u00a0 (LMD system) and even to a Master (M1 level &#8211; LMD system). Here again, it all depends on the American university where the degree was earned.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Master&#8217;s degree<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If the student has prepared a dissertation to earn a Master&#8217;s degree, French universities generally consider that he or she has completed a Master&#8217;s degree (M1 &#8211; LMD system) and can therefore enter the M2 level of the Master&#8217;s curriculum (LMD system).
