Coming on an exchange program

Have you been selected by your home institution to study abroad at the University of French Polynesia as an exchange student?

The UPF will be delighted to welcome you to the Outumaoro campus, and the International Relations Service will assist you through the registration process.

To find out if you are eligible for an exchange program, please check that a cooperation agreement has been signed between the UPF and your home institution.

If there is an agreement between your home institution and the University of French Polynesia, feel free to contact the international relations service of your university to prepare your official registration.

AVANTAGES
Benefits

As part of an exchange program, you are exempt from paying tuition fees and will not be required to take a French language test. However, it is recommended that you have a minimum level of French to be able to follow courses.
In addition to that, you will benefit from:
administrative and pedagogical assistance for your study mobility at UPF
help in finding accommodation: you can reserve a room at the UPF
a wide choice of general courses offered in the UPF’s les trois départements (with the exception of courses in the 1st year of the Premier Cycle d’Etudes Médicales and in continuing educatio);
registration for the UECG “ Certification Voltaire ” French Language course;
an intensive FLE (French as a Foreign Language) course;
the “Buddy programme” student sponsorship program;
Insert Buddy programme:
possible recognition of the period of study spent at UPF when you return to your home university, if you pass your exams.

Application form

Once you have been selected by your school, you will need to complete a UPF application form and attach the required documents:
your application for admission
an official transcript of records
the list of provisional courses you wish to take at UPF
a scanned passport photo
a copy of your passport

Procédure d’inscription

Submission of files

Complete applications from students selected for an exchange must be sent to the UPF International Relations Service by the mobility program managers at the partner universities before:
June 15 for the first semester or the whole year (end of August),
October 31 for the second semester (mid-January).

Admission

A letter of acceptance and all the documents required for your stay at UPF will be sent to your home institution for your attention.
As soon as you receive your letter of acceptance, it will be your responsibility to contact the cultural services of the French embassy or consulate in your country to obtain your student visa, if required.

a wide range of general courses offered in the three UPF departments (with the exception of first-year undergraduate courses in Medical Studies and continuing education);
enrollment in the UECG “Voltaire Certification” program to take French courses;
a complimentary intensive FLE (French as a Foreign Language) course;
the “Buddy Program” sponsorship program
possible recognition of the period of study spent at UPF upon return to your home university, if you pass the exams.

Before applying, please ensure that:

· Your university is a partner of our institution as part of an academic exchange.
· You have been officially nominated by your university. Only nominated students may submit an application.
· You meet the required academic and language requirements.
· Application procedure: All the steps to follow are detailed in the guide “S’inscrire à l’UPF “.

Please note that all the documents are in French as you need a good command in French to follow classes.

Nomination deadlines:

For non-European partners:

1st semester or academic year: April 30
2nd semester: September 30

For European partners:

1st semester or academic year: May 15
2nd semester: October 15

Please note that all the documents are in French as you need a good command in French to follow classes.

Once your nomination is confirmed, you will need to submit the following documents in PDF format

Your proposed academic program, which you must complete and have validated by your university and our office at relations-internationales@upf.pf before uploading it to your application.

· Your application, to be submitted via: International Student Registration 2025-2026.
· The Buddy Program form, if you would like a UPF student to sponsor you.
· Your international residence reservation application, if you would like to be housed on campus.

Document submission deadlines:

2nd semester: October 31

An acceptance letter and all necessary documents for your stay at UPF will be sent to your home university.

Upon receipt of your acceptance letter, you must immediately complete the necessary procedures with the cultural services of the French Embassy or Consulate in your country to obtain your student visa, if necessary.
